New Trip Time!

Howdy all! And here on ‘Andy Roams’ a new adventure is in the offing! Yes – it still feels to me like I barely got back from last year’s escapades and here I am about to head off again, despite the turmoils of the world in 2026! This year’s adventuring will be on a much smaller scale though and it won’t be passing through the middle east!

Strange for me as I still has LOADS of stuff to share both here and on YouTube about last year’s trip. Nevertheless whilst I am travelling over the next four weeks I will try and do a ‘check in’ post as I go and there should be some vlogs from this trip hitting YouTube by mid-June. So I guess, where am I headed?

Well, I will be heading back to the country I have spent the most time in in my life bar Australia, and that is Japan. This will be a mixture of family stuff and I will get out and check out what I can as I return to Kyoto for the first time since 2011 when I first came to Japan – in fact it was my first city in Japan!

I’ve been working so much lately with the price of everything going up and needing to put money aside for my four weeks, so as I write this, a few weeks before posting, I haven’t really nutted down what I want to do and see in Kyoto, but I do know I want to get to Osaka which is 30 minutes on the train away as I haven’t really experienced this city (although I did have half a day there at the Aquarium).

This means I will finally (all going well!) get to visit Universal Studios Japan, possibly regarded as the best theme park in ASIA. We will see. I do hate writing before I go as I feel like I will surely jinx myself.

Time in Yokohama and Tokyo will cover two weeks in Japan easily. And then I will be going solo to China and Laos. Well, mostly China but I really want to take the new high speed train to Vientiane from Kunming. SO I will be exploring Kunming and one other place in China, plus three days at the end in Vientiane. So I think in this portion of the trip I am not trying to cram too much in as is my usual approach.

Golden Stupa, Vientiane

The first stop in China I won’t say out loud but the geography inspired the look of an alien planet in a series of extremely expensive films, the latest one was released last year. Anyways, I think I’ll keep this post somewhat short today!

Thanks for popping by and wherever you are in the world, May the Journey Never End!

  1. These are very exciting prospects, both for Japan and for Laos, a country where I also have plans, though no decisions have been made at this stage.
