Howdy all on this Sunday! Today’s seven on Sunday takes you to a pretty awesome little Mediterranean country that used to be part of the old Yugoslavia – Slovenia. I can only talk from my experiences, but I really loved this beautiful little spot! Here are seven things I did and recommend you do in Slovenia.
- Listen to jazz in the capital Ljubljana
How could you go wrong?
- 6. Walk walk walk!
Walking in Slovenia is a wonderful experience, especially in Spring. I’m sure you can find a good trail through countryside and villages as I did on my way to the Skocjan Caves.

- Take a few days to soak in Ljubljana
The Slovenia capital is one of the most pleasant you’ll find anywhere. Walk around it, take in some culture, and make sure you have a camera. It’s such a great place to explore and discover. Full of galleries, museums, alleyways, adorable bridges and more!

- Lake Bled
With a gorgeous settling, a castle overlooking on the hill and a church on an island, Lake Bled is a truly beautiful spot to visit. Hire a bike and ride around the lake, or just walk. In summer you can sunbathe and swim in it. Plenty of restaurants and walks to do in the area as well. In two words – simply delightful!

- Coastal towns of Koper, Izola and Piran
These coastal towns are beautiful and full of medieval charm. Visit them in a day staying in one by boat. There are cobblestones, ancient buildings and even the odd beach!

- Skocjan Caves
These simply brilliant caves in the south part of the country can be reached easily enough by bus and a bit of a walk from Koper or other coastal cities. The tour is exciting and reveals stunning caves in the middle of the hills which are huge. A real highlight of Slovenia.

- Vintar Gorge
The Vintar Gorge, near Lake Bled, is a wonderful morning or afternoon hike from the lake and through the gorge. It really is a stunning beautiful walk on a walkway constructed that follows the gorge above the river crossing from side to side. I loved this walk immensely and it was my favourite, amongst many, thing to do in Slovenia!

So what are you waiting for? Slovenia awaits! May the Journey Never End!

Quite the variety and beautiful 🙂
Thanks! 🙂 it’s a wonderful country
We spent time in Ljubljana and Piran, both very pretty places. Ljubljana one of the weirdest little capitals anywhere and so charming. Slovenia sometimes strikes me as a place time has forgotten.
