Theme Park and Aquarium in Japan – Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise

Hey folks – an interesting vlog for you today. Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is located on a small island a little way from the centre of Yokohama. Come with me as I take a train line known as the ‘Seaside Line’ to get there.

Sea ‘Paradise’ is basically a ‘Sea World’ kinda deal, with a large aquarium, a performance pool where they have dolphin shows, and rides including an awesome roller coaster, a tall tower ride and a rafting adventure. But then… there are the questions about the ethics of this place.

Always hard to balance – aquariums are great places for conservation of species, education and care for sea animals. But at the same time – this place has a lot of larger sea mammals that I struggled to see on display for the public, including walruses and an polar bear. So come along and see what it’s like, including some of the rides, and see if you think I should get ‘over myself’ on these issues that bring out the guilt vibes!

Thanks for popping by! May the Journey Never End!

  1. That’s an interesting question. I think that as people become increasingly urbanised, gaining a better understanding of animals should ultimately benefit the animals themselves.
