Destination of the Month – Benin!

Howdy all! Last Sunday of the month means it’s time again for another ‘Destination of the Month’ – and today I am featuring the West African nation of Benin. What has prompted this choice? Well, next month the film ‘The Woman King’ starring Violet Davis is due for release, and although I know very little …

Epic Journeys – Cotonou, Benin to Niamey, Niger

Today’s Epic Journeys takes me back a number of years now and over to West Africa, starting in the south of Benin in it’s largest city, Cotonou, and finishes in the capital of Niger, Niamey, late on the second day. A journey of just over 1000 kilometres in total, one that Google claims can be done in 16 hours. And perhaps it can, but there is a border crossing and when you do it by public transport you need to change vehicles multiple times, there’s waiting times and a night thrown in there, it ends up being a journey that I can say is truly ‘Epic’.

Hi folks! Time to turn the clock back a decade plus to my time in the West African country of Benin. A country with a history linked to the slave trade to the Americas, it has it's own beauty and despite the fact I only had five nights there, I appreciated visiting. Apart from the …

Travel Video – West Africa (2006)

Howdy folks as another week kicks off. With my series of Saturday posts on West Africa, I thought now would be a good time to show you my short (5 and a half minutes) video I compiled of my time in West Africa. It's a combination of photos and short films I shot with the …
