G’day Folks! Topkapi Palace in Istanbul is one of the city’s premier sights, and for me the Harem was the real highlight – you could easily think it’s a palace on its own! Wonderful use of wood and tiles, stunning rooms and buildings, the domes are also spectacular. It does cost extra to check out the Harem when you are at Topkapi Palace, but it is worth it because it the most spectacular part of the whole place! And today – my photos!

During my last trip to Istanbul last year, I went back to visit the Harem because it’s certainly the place that’s closest to the reality of everyday life in the old days. The palaces are just salons and reception rooms, magnificent but lacking in practical life.
