Journey from Nice, France, to Tangier, Morocco in Under Two Days

Yes sir, it’s time for the next vlog, and it’s a BIG one in the story of Dhaka to Dakar 2023!

Folks, not everything goes to plan when you overland travel for three months, and I hit some setbacks in this one, as I head via train, bus, ferry and taxi overland and sea from Nice in France, through Spain to Tangier in Morocco, nearly 2000 kms in 2 days. Facing a cancelled train in France after travelling to Beziers, I opted for a bus. BUT – here is where I made a fatal error.

You’ll have to watch to find out what it was. But continuing on to Barcelona I am joined by the unflappable Graham who is joining me on my travels as we head southward to Morocco. The second day of this journey we take high speed Spanish rail to the south of Spain, Algeciras where we catch the ferry to Tangier. But don’t miss the stop in Madrid! The world’s best restrooms await!

Thanks for popping by! May the Journey Never End!

  1. Wow, that’s a lot of travel packed in a short time. So, looking at this, if I understand right: you get out of the train in Algeciras and can walk over to the ferry terminal? Pretty good.

About the bathrooms: I’ve always been a big supporter of paid bathrooms. Saw the same in Malaga: dirty public bathrooms. But pay a euro and there’s a super clean bathroom that’s as you describe. An Oasis 🙂

    1. yep that 100% correct. the walk is probably 10 minutes or so from the station to the port. It was super easy, loads of ferries all day and into the night, you could buy tickets then and there (although it wasnt tourist season). That bathroom is one of the best memories of my trip. not because the trip sucked, because it was great, but it was just THAT good. I had no issues paying a euro for it. There were others in Europe I also paid a euro for where I did NOT get value for money. Turkey/Bulgarian border for example! thanks as always for commenting!
