Quito – Through My Lens

Quito, Ecuador’s capital, is a surprisingly attractive city. I had no idea that I had taken so many photos when I was there! It’s built on and around hills, and has a gorgeous Old Town which is the best part of it. Enjoy!

Entering Quito.

Panecillo Hill stands over Quito, with a statue of the Madonna watching over the city. However, be careful if you go as it’s regarded as little dangerous.

The Basilica of the National Vow is a recently built church (relatively) which you can climb and explore. You can get pretty high up there! Yes, I was pretty freaked out!

The markets and the eating spots are very interesting, not to mention tasty!

And the rest of the Old Town is pretty special too – and unqiue!

  1. Wow, I agree that it does look attractive, with the old buildings and colours all around. I do imagine that the locals must be quite used to the hills? That’s a lot of uphill and downhill I see…haha

  2. Great post! Looks like you followed our trail. We have a lot of the same photos! The Basilica is not to be missed. Did you climb to the top of the steeple? Great photo opps. Your picture of the courtyard restaurant is the old Archbishops Place converted into several restaurants and shops. It is the best place to use the ATM. We ate at the restaurant on the third floor. It was excellent. as well as the tram.
