First things first – Happy New Year!

I am six weeks away from jetting off to Thailand and Myanmar so pretty excited about that! Hope that wherever you are you had a great New Year. Here in Melbourne we’re getting some serious heat, it’s about 38 degrees right now and we’re heading for 41 tomorrow. So, I thought I’d choose a photo from Japan to feature this Friday.

The Japanese love festivals. They can’t get enough of them and Morioka has a big one each year with drums and parades, music and food and the like. Here’s the best pick I got when I saw it in 2012.
