Manila’s Historic Intramuros – In Pictures

Howdy all. Well today is my first in a series of photographic posts from the Philippines – Manila and El Nido from late last year. Intramuros is the historic centre of Manila, the Philippine capital. My walking tour started at the historic Fort Santiago, but unfortunately I had not realised that the setting on my DSLR was on ‘effect’ and, well you can see the results!

From there I walked through Intramuros and checked out the Casa Manila, an historic house where I realised what I had done, then across the road to the Saint Augustine Church and Monastery (San Agustin). Then further down until I hit Rizal Park and the monument there to this hughly significant figure of Philippine history. The Philippines was controlled for a long time by the Spanish, and then from early 19th century by America although not in the same way. More photos from this city are coming, enjoy today’s collection!

  1. Philippines is in the plans in the next year or two. We weren’t sure about Manila, but it looks like the city has a few nice spots, so maybe worth a couple of days? Maggie

  2. I didn’t know what to expect from the centre of Manila and it actually looks quite nice with what seems to be several historic buildings! Thanks for this virtual tour!
