Howdy all. Another airline review for you today, as I take to the skies from Vientiane in Laos to Melbourne Australia. This time I try a new airline (for me) one that is rated a five star airline on Skytrax.

Hainan Airlines has been around for a long time – but only recently has it become more prominent. Hainan Airlines is a Chinese airline based in Haikou, the capital of the southern island province of Hainan. Let’s see how this airline stacks up, and whether it’s five star rating is truly earnt.

The route is Vientiane to Haikou to Melbourne, the class is economy. I get to sit next to an air security officer on one flight, experience a huge and unknown airport in Haikou and then fly home with some nice views over Australia after the sun rises. So, come along for the ride!
