Hey ho. Sorry for the lack of BLOGS since I left Australia. This has been a full on journey I am on right now and I have been putting all my effort into my vlogging, which in itself has been a real challenge. I’ll see if I can blog from time to time as I continue to travel, but I can’t make any promises.
So I am writing this on the fifth of July, hoping to publish it in the following few days. I left Australia on the 10th of April on this ‘Round the World’ trip, going against the spin of the Earth and so far have been to around 13 countries in the Americas and Europe. It’s been an adventure, and I’ve been generally ok although have had some health issues mostly when in Romania and I got severe sinusitis and spent a full day in hospital.
Honestly I had no idea it could be that bad! I was throwing up in the end and had a fever and I was told doctor’s generally don’t come to hotels so they told me to go to hospital which I did. They were really thorough but I’m glad I didn’t have to overnight. They also did a bunch of tests and found another issue which I am now on ongoing medication for at the moment thanks to follow up hospital visits in the UK.
So I type this post on KLM flying from Amsterdam to Kigali, Rwanda. The African portion of the trip is about to begin and after that I head to South-East Asia for a bit before returning home. There’s still a fair bit of the trip to go, and I am fast approaching 100 countries visited – Rwanda will be my 99th!
What have the highlights been thus far? Well zip-lining in Nicaragua for sure, and I absolutely adored Santorini – what an incredible place, over touristed but you can see why. Seeing the Panama Canal Docks in action was also pretty special. And Jamaica was awesome as well, my visit to the island of Lime Cay and visiting Dunn River Falls stand out there.

Speaking of which, meeting fellow travel blogger Rochelle Knight was great, and fellow travel vlogger Kirby Fontin in Florida also. Connecting with people you’ve known and followed for a few years is great. I’ve banked a lot of vlogs to edit when I get home too including a lot of flight reviews. Not my favourite kind of vlog to make but they seem to do well on the channel.
I’ve sampled Latam, Air New Zealand, American Airlines, Avianca (several times) British Airways, Wizz Air, Aegean Air, Austrian Airlines and KLM. Oh my goodness, I have flown FAR TOO MUCH! Most have been in economy but I’ve used my points for a couple of Business Class flights including this one with KLM I’m writing on and this one certainly worth it!
Anyways, I hope to drop another proper written blog soon, in the next week or two from my 100th country! Which I haven’t made yet and it was originally going to be Rwanda because I was supposed to go to Moldova but that got skuttled when I got sick. Hope everyone is having a great 2025, and sorry to all those bloggers I follow and comment on your posts – I literally haven’t had the time. Don’t worry, I’ve had a bit of rest but really because I HAD to prioritise it. Which is a lesson I should have learnt by now. C’est La Vie.
Thanks for reading today! Take care wherever you are in the world and – May the Journey Never End!
I’m glad you’re better!wow, soon to your 100th country!I’m looking forward to your new posts
It’s interesting to hear your thoughts on the current trip. It’s true that things never go as planned, and health problems far from home are always difficult to manage. Congratulations on moving forward to face a new challenge in Africa.
Impressive, Andy! Stay healthy!
