All Aboard the rails in EGYPT this time! Yes, what exactly are the trains like in Egypt? Well I take an all day train from Ramses Station in Cairo southwards along the Nile River to the ancient city of Luxor. I travel in ‘VIP’ class – is it very VIP? What is the on board experience like? And how about those views?
It’s certainly an adventure on Egyptian Railways – as is every railway journey! So come along with me and see how I found it! Also includes how to buy a ticket as a foreigner in Cairo!
Thanks for popping by! May the Journey Never End!
An interesting trip, which gives a better appreciation of the quality of European trains. I should have done this trip by coach, but in the end, for security reasons at the time, foreigners had to take a flight between Cairo and Luxor. At least things have improved.
They have I flew back to Cairo could have got a very cheap flight if I wanted on budget airlines but went with Egypt air which wasn’t much more than the cost of the train thanks for commenting!
I didn’t know there was a train to travel from Cairo to Luxor as I only saw a plane ride as option in my maps. Thanks for sharing your train ride!
There’s also bus as an option too. Flying can be the same price as train too and much faster but I do like train travel!
