From Around the Web – When Bald and Bankrupt met Kolya

Hi all.

‘Mr Bald’ has had a lot of adventures on YouTube, but perhaps the most heartwarming story he’s shared is his relationship with Kolya, a man who is living by himself in a village in southern Belarus which is in the ‘radiation zone’. And when I say alone, Kolya (who is 73) is the only person in the whole village. They form a tight bond, it’s really quite beautiful, and Mr Bald goes back a number of times to see Kolya, although his village is rather hard to locate and down a road that barely counts as a road, and despite the fact that it’s in a zone still regarded as dangerous due to fallout from the Chernobyl disaster. Chernobyl sits just over the Ukrainian border, but a fair way south of where these videos are shot. In fact this is near the Russian border. It’s a very big part of Belarus in fact that was affected by the radiation, larger than the irradiated zone in the Ukraine.

These videos honestly touch your heart and might even bring a tear to your eye. I have full respect for Mr Bald. He does some crazy stuff, I know, but you can see he relates so well to the people he meets and really forms bonds so quickly. And he cares too. And I think all in all he leaves a positive impact on the places he visits.

I hope you got something out of these videos. Thanks for watching and dropping by – May the Journey Never End!
