Not all tourist sites are created equal, or indeed logical, but here’s one I visited in Seoul that was certainly different to the others, and that is a place dubbed ‘Oil Tank Culture Park’, located opposite the World Cup Football Stadium.
What exactly is this place? Well, there are six or seven large oil tanks that no longer hold oil, all of which have been converted into spaces for theatre and other cultural activities. New life has been given to tanks which otherwise would have been scrapped completely, and it’s a clever and novel way of using them, so I thought it was well worth checking out when I was in the South Korean capital of Seoul. Was I right? Well, check out the video to find out!
Thanks for popping by! May the Journey Never End!
I like the round shape of the oil tanks and their clever conversion. It reminds me of the reuse of gasometers, the same round shape that is not so common in architecture and creates a contrast with all the straight planes around.
That’s true it’s not common and it makes for interesting contrasts! Thanks for commenting ☺️
