Folks, it’s time to take to the tracks with me as I check out TrenItalia – the main train company in Italy – and their high speed offering. Take a seat next to me as I travel from Bari on the east coast to the capital Rome, and from there to Florence and see what train travel in Italy is all about!
Thanks for popping by! May the Journey Never End!
I’m becoming a big fan of train travel in Europe, the speed and comfort outweigh all the inconveniences of air travel over these distances. The latest trend is also to develop night trains, which allow to travel while saving a night in a hotel.
I think there used to be a lot more night trains in Europe but with the speed achieved these days they don’t see quite the need but I think it is certainly still there
The night trains had a bad reputation and disappeared for a while. Today, with the return of the train, for both cost and environmental reasons, night trains are completing bullet trains over longer distances. Going fast for a long time means losing a day, but if you travel at night, there’s no day lost and in addition there’s a saving on the hotel.
I loved taking trains around Italy. I used to do it quite often.
The best way to travel thank Tanja!
