Yes, goodness me, Eurovision we is FINALLY here. One semi-final down, another to go before the final. And today it’s all about the WINNERS of Eurovision. The numbers that really blew the audience away. Minus, you know, the ones I’ve already mentioned. Johnny Logan & Celine Dion especially. Well okay, I’m going include Celine because it was brilliant. Here they are!
-
- Celine Dion – Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi (Switzerland, 1987)
Oh brilliance! Oh power! Here they be!
2. Sertab Erener – Everyway That I Can (Turkey, 2003)
The only win thus far for Turkey, belly-dancing had Terry Wogan pretty exciting, and this track used it very well.
3. Ruslana – Wild Dances (Ukraine, 2004)
Ruslana and her group, clad in leather, drums, everything you could imagine produces this special winner in 2004.
4. Loreen – Euphoria (Sweden, 2012)
I can not adequately describe just how much I love this track. In a really strong year of songs, it rose up high above the pack like a…. like a….. well, it was the clear, brilliant winner.
5. Conchita Wurst – Rise Like A Pheonix (Austria, 2014)
Oh that’s what she rose like, except, Conchita rose higher. To the very top. In fact, could this be the greatest Eurovision hit of all time? I think it might just be. A song that would work well as a James Bond theme, this is the ultimate belted out show stopping number. THE END
Thanks for joining me on my trip down the Eurovision memory lane. There may yet be a review of this year’s in the works, I haven’t decided yet, but all in all it’s been a great ride! May the Journey Never End!
