Hi everyone. The Melbourne Fringe Festival is on again! Friend of the Blog Rob Lloyd has another amazing one man show running this year, an adaptation of the 1955 book by Jack Finney. I thought I’d do a little post to plug his show.
The setting is Santa Mira, and Rob portrays Dr Miles Bennel, the town doctor. We follow the story through his eyes as the people of the town are slowly changed. It’s quite a dramatic show, but it’s also a comedy, and Rob brings an incredible energy to the stage as he plays not only Bennel, but the other characters as well. It’s an intense, intriguing and faithful tribute to the story and to the genre.
It’s on at the North Melbourne Town Hall, an area with loads of restaurants and a wonderful atmosphere, and this is also the main Fringe Hub. There are two bars in the venue and other stages with other shows. The Melbourne Fringe Festival is set up in such a way that there are multiple shows on multiple stages every night so you can see more than one show of an evening should you want to.
