Accommodation Review – Park Avenue Changi Hotel

G’day all. Yes, another review for you! Hope you are well on this day! Today’s hotel in question is the Park Avenue Changi Hotel. It’s a hotel not too far from Changi but not one that is actually at the airport, so it required transportation to get there. It does have a metro stop right on its doorstep basically, but if you are coming or going from Terminal, you might consider a GRAB (local version of Uber) which cost us around $17AUD or $12USD.

The price of one night in December at the Park Avenue Changi Hotel for us was $313AUD or $209USD. Singapore is not a place to find a great priced hotel to stay in unfortunately. It is four stars and it is near the airport.

When we arrived it was a modern but uninteresting building. There’s a shopping mall a few minutes walk from the hotel which was actually really big and plenty of shops and eating choices. The hotel is equipped with a gym and a pool (maybe two) but we were just having a quick overnight stay, so we didn’t check these out. Check in was efficient but to be honest, nothing to write home about in terms of greetings or making you feel welcome. It felt like a business hotel, and that’s what it was.

The room was comfortable. Not super spacey, not fancy, but it was comfortable with two singles beds, a decent sized TV, table and chairs, kettle and tea, small fridge, cupboard and laundry service. The internet speed was good, the décor was brown and darkish orange which worked quite well. The carpet continued the colour scheme, it was a little worn.

The bathroom was okay, again not super spacious and had a glass window to the rest of the room (with blinds). I’m not convinced this is something that adds to your stay, but a lot of hotels do this now. There was a bath, which is always great, the usual amenities and a hair dryer.

The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and we had what we needed. It’s a four star hotel and the room was a four-star room, albeit not a super spacious room like others I could compare it to over the last year and a half of travel it’s one of the smaller four star rooms I have had. Would I stay again? For the right price, not for the same price. It was dearer than the five-star Pelangi Resort in Langkawi. Somewhat understandably, but for that price I would want to be IN the airport I think.

Thanks for popping by – and May the Journey Never End!
