Touring H Block, Pentridge Prison!

For nearly 150 years Pentridge Prison in Coburg, Melbourne was Australia’s most feared and infamous prisons. The brutal treatment of prisoners in H Division was like something out of a nightmare. The prison closed down in 1997 but the buildings made out of blue-stone bricks still, for the most part, still stand today.

But today it’s very different – in and around the site are apartments, a small shopping centre and the old buildings are built on top of – one is an expensive hotel for example. But some buildings remain as they stood back in the day and you can tour them, and today I take a tour into the H Division (Maximum Security) building. So come along with me as I see what it’s like – on the inside!

Thanks for popping by! May the Journey Never End!

  1. It’s an odd thing that we’re more likely to visit old prisons than old hospitals – there’s a definite fascination with evil rather than good.
