Images of the Hagia Sofia – Istanbul, Türkiye

Howdy all. Well I’ve (approximately) reached Istanbul in my telling of the story of Dhaka to Dakar, and I think it was one of the most photogenic places I stopped on the whole trip. So I’m sharing a few photos of the significant places I saw. The Hagia Sofia – Catholic Church/Orthodox Church/Mosque/Museum/Mosque is unquestionably THE most visited and probably important site in Istanbul. So take a look at how I saw it last year when I visited!

  1. A beautiful architectural masterpiece! I stepped into Hagia Sophia in 2019 during my visit to Turkey and found it absolutely sublime. Thanks for sharing your adventure there, Andy!

  2. During my last stay in Istanbul, I didn’t go back to visit Hagia Sofia, too crowded, long queues in the sun. Instead, I went and sat down several times in the courtyard of the Blue Mosque opposite, which is finishing its work of several years.
