Howdy all. Well I’ve (approximately) reached Istanbul in my telling of the story of Dhaka to Dakar, and I think it was one of the most photogenic places I stopped on the whole trip. So I’m sharing a few photos of the significant places I saw. The Hagia Sofia – Catholic Church/Orthodox Church/Mosque/Museum/Mosque is unquestionably THE most visited and probably important site in Istanbul. So take a look at how I saw it last year when I visited!

I was a little overwhelmed when we walked into Hagia Sophia. It really feels its age, but in a good way. Maggie
im guessing that when i was there, although there were a lot of people it can be much worse! Thanks for popping by!
A beautiful architectural masterpiece! I stepped into Hagia Sophia in 2019 during my visit to Turkey and found it absolutely sublime. Thanks for sharing your adventure there, Andy!
it really is! thanks for popping by!
During my last stay in Istanbul, I didn’t go back to visit Hagia Sofia, too crowded, long queues in the sun. Instead, I went and sat down several times in the courtyard of the Blue Mosque opposite, which is finishing its work of several years.
fair enough. unfortunately for me the Blue Mosque was closed at the time. Luckily the queue looked long but it didnt take so long. thanks for commenting sir!
